| The term Casino came in to use as a gambling establishment during the 19th century. Originally, casinos were used for a variety of activities, including sports, gaming, theatre, and public meetings. The Hanko Casino in Finland was used only as a banquet hall, and no gambling took place on the premises.
Today, online casino are big businesses – there are Casino – Hotels all over the world, including Europe, America, and Asia, as well as online casinos with customers from all over the world.
In modern Italian, the word ‘casino’ refers to a ‘closed house’, or ‘bordello’, while the gambling house is called a casino - note the accent on the ‘o’.
